Client connections
Building sites for clients? You usually should not — and often cannot — log in to their Instagram account yourself. Simpleembed solves this with a shareable auth link: your client opens it, approves access with their own Instagram login, and their account appears as a source in your workspace. No passwords change hands, and the client never needs a Simpleembed account.
Where to find your auth link
In the dashboard, open Sources and look for the Shared workspace auth link card. The link is unique to your workspace — use Copy link and send it to your client over email, chat, or however you normally talk.
What your client sees
- Opening the link shows a page titled "Connect an Instagram source" with your workspace's name, so they know who is asking for access.
- They press Connect Instagram and are sent to Instagram to approve access with their own login.
- After approving, their account appears in your Connected sources list, marked "via auth link" — ready for you to build feeds from.
Your client does not create a Simpleembed account, set a password, or see your dashboard. They only interact with Instagram's own consent screen.
Requirements
- The client's Instagram account must be a Business or Creator (professional) account. Personal accounts cannot be connected — this is an Instagram API requirement. Switching is free in the Instagram app under Settings.
- Your workspace needs room for another source. The free plan includes 1 source; Pro lifts the limit.
Access and revocation
The connection only grants read access to the account's media for syncing posts. Your client stays in control: they can revoke Simpleembed's access at any time from their Instagram settings (under apps and websites permissions). If access is revoked or expires, the source shows as needing reauthorization in your dashboard, and you can send the auth link again to reconnect.
Once the source is connected, continue with creating and customizing a feed, then embed it on the client's site. Managing several clients? Start free and upgrade to Pro when you need unlimited sources and feeds.
